June Report

Well the Foss family has a new addition. We are happy to announce that we have had a baby boy. He was born on the 24 of May and was 7lbs 7oz, 22inches long. We are blessed that both baby and mother are doing extremely well. The new baby's name is Benjamin Dale Alex Foss. So now we have two little boys in the house, one of which is a two year old and we know that without a doubt the Lord has blessed us tremendously, but goodness me we are in for some long days ahead.

Over the last few months I was asked to become a member of the Dauphin and District Food Bank board of directors, which was an exciting opportunity to not only be more involved in a highly worthwhile service project in our community but also to be able to help with direction that this will take in the future. I know that through the meetings that we have already had as well as the intake days that I have been a part of, that being able to serve those that are in need is a true blessing. It never ceases to amaze me the power of servanthood.

For quite a while now I have been planning for the congregation Family Fun Nights. These are nights that we can get together as a church family and bond with each other as well as to invite people from the community to get to know our family. Well the last event was called "The Great Race", somewhat of a knock off of the TV show "The amazing Race". It was great to see people's response to this event. Of the 30 people that came there were 4 visitors that came as well, which allowed us to have an evening of fun but also to plant seeds for potential future growth.

Oppurtunity has come knocking for us here in Dauphin as well. We have been approached over the last little while with the idea of starting a friends speak program here in Dauphin. Friends Speak is a program that helps to teach people English by using the scripture as the text book. This has been a wonderful program in other areas and we are spending time in prayer about the possibilites here as well. I have also been having conversations with people about a mission trip that would include a LST(Let's Start Talking) program. This is simialar to Friends Speak but you go to another country to do this and you are in contact with a missionary there who would follow up with people. I have also been given the oppurtunity to teach a class this year at Western Christian College's lectureship, this would be a good chance to pepare more lessons and to help hone some teaching skills. These would both be great oppurtunities for the church here so pray for the future of these two possabilities.

We are in the process of creating a program that is essentially a day camp for kids program that will run through out the summer in weekly segments with different age groups and is geared toward kids who are in need of a good place to learn and might not be able to afford to go to any other camp or summer program. I was offered the chance to help with this program and was excited at the prospect of being able to work with kids that are searching. It is so devastating to see the hard lives that some of the kids in our community have had, and being able to share with them that there is a God who loves them, and can help them is humbling for me, but also so rewarding.

With the coming of summer there is also a lot more activity outdoors here in Dauphin. (Outdoor activity is not so fun in the winter....) So I decided to join a Slow pitch team this year in order to get to know some people outside of the normal circle that I know, and this has been extremely rewarding for me. It has showed me, well that I am getting old and am not in the shape that I once was, but also that God will open up doors for us when we are trying to do His will. I have been able to share with people the work that I do as well as talk about the work that is going on at the Parkland Crossing ministry. This is now something that I look forward to each week, not because slow pitch is all that exciting, but being able to sit and visit and share with people that I can see are in need of God is exciting!!!

There always seems to be something great going on, that is the wonderful part of being a servant of God's.
May God bless you and thank-you for the support that you give. It is wonderful to be a part of the family of God. May he be praised through all the things that we say and do.
